Understand. Remember. Think. Solve. Apply.

NEW Video lessons

Watch it. Then make it stick.

A short video lesson for every topic, on the same 5-level path — real PostgreSQL on screen, English subtitles. Then you practise it in six modes until it lasts.

The problem

Learning changed.
Skill building didn't.

Watching a lesson feels like progress. But a skill is built by retrieving, predicting and doing — again, at the right moments.

Typical course
  1. Watch
  2. Understand
  3. Move on
  4. Forget

Most of a lesson is gone within days. Watching felt like learning — it wasn't practice.

Engram
  1. Understand
  2. Recall
  3. Predict
  4. Solve
  5. Apply
  6. ↺ Practise again

What you miss comes back for review after 1 day, 3 days, a week and three weeks — each time a little later, until it stays.

Illustration of how spaced, active practice works — not a measurement.

The AI era

AI can generate the answer.
Understanding matters more.

AI can generate. Engram helps you understand it, verify it, reason about it, improve it and use it — the human skill behind the output.

AI can generate
SQLPythonCodeAnalysis
An answer arrives in seconds. Whether it is right is still your call.
  1. Understand Decode explains the idea, with the query and its result side by side.
  2. Verify Predict trains you to say what a query returns before you trust it.
  3. Reason Quiz and Recall make you choose and explain, not just recognise.
  4. Solve Solve has you write it yourself, checked on real rows.
  5. Apply Apply puts it in a real situation: which approach, and why.
The Engram Method

One concept.
Six ways in.

Every lesson ends in a practice mission across six modes. What you miss comes back after 1, 3, 7 and 21 days. Pick a mode to see an example.

Tap a mode to see an example ↓

DECODE · the idea in plain words

WHERE is evaluated before SELECT — so an alias you name in SELECT doesn't exist yet when WHERE runs.

SELECT price * qty AS total FROM sale
WHERE total > 100;
ERROR: column "total" does not exist
QUIZ · one right answer, real wrong ones

Customers who never ordered. orders.customer_id contains a NULL. Which query returns the right rows?

  • WHERE id NOT IN (SELECT customer_id FROM orders)returns nothing — one NULL makes every NOT IN unknown
  • WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM orders o WHERE o.customer_id = c.id)✓ correct
RECALL · answer from memory, then reveal

Why can COUNT(email) be smaller than COUNT(*)?

Reveal the answer

COUNT(column) skips NULLs; COUNT(*) counts every row.

PREDICT · say what comes back, before it runs
SELECT count(*) FROM signup WHERE referrer = NULL;

Answer: 0. Nothing equals NULL — not even NULL. Use IS NULL.

SOLVE · write it, checked on real rows

The best-paid employee in each department — if two tie, keep both.

SELECT name FROM (
SELECT name, rank() OVER (PARTITION BY dept ORDER BY salary DESC) AS rk
  FROM employee) t
WHERE rk = 1;
✓ Passed · also checked against a hidden set of rows
APPLY · a decision from real work

Your month-over-month report jumps straight from January to March. February had no sales. What do you change?

  • Build a list of every month and LEFT JOIN the sales onto it✓ an empty month becomes 0, and comparisons stay honest
  • Leave it — no sales means nothing to showMarch would be compared with January

See less. Think more. Practise deeply. Remember longer.

From knowledge to lasting skill

Engram doesn't just teach concepts.
It trains you to use them.

Learn actively, practise repeatedly. Each mode lifts an idea one step further — from knowing it, to remembering it, to using it at work.

Each mode reinforces the others. You don't just see the answer — you work for it, understand it, and remember it.
  1. Knowledge built by Decode

  3. Memory built by Recall

Why Engram is different

Not another course
to watch and forget.

Most courses are built for watching. Engram is built for doing — so what you learn is still there months later.

Typical video courses
  • Lectures you watch once
  • Passive learning
  • Shallow, one-off exercises
  • Disconnected topics
  • Simplified examples
  • Not designed for the AI era
  • Knowledge fades quickly
Engram
  • Active practice, not videos
  • Six modes for every idea
  • Ideas come back just before you forget them
  • A clear path, level by level
  • A real engine and realistic data
  • Train to understand and verify AI output
  • Knowledge that lasts
